Two laboratory tests were carried out to verify the suitability of an Italian commercial biochar as adsorbing material. The chosen contaminant, considered dissolved in groundwater, was As. circular economic concept demands use such waste Its has been studied recent years on several contaminants. possibility using efficient material at low cost could help low-impact technologies like permeable reactive barriers (PRBs). A numerical model used derive kinetic constant for two most isotherms. results are aligned with others derived from literature, but they also indicate that a large amount does not improve efficiency removal. particular origin biochar, together its grain size, causes decrease contact time required adsorption. Furthermore, it is possible strong local hydraulic conductibility allow correct dispersion flow, thereby limiting efficiency.
